Billy Joe Wardlow, 45, is set to be put to death at 6pm at the state's execution chamber in Huntsville for the murder of 82-year-old Carl Cole in 1993.

Wardlow would be the third inmate in Texas and the seventh in the United States to be executed so far this year. After Wardlow shot Mr Cole during a struggle, the couple fled with the eldery man's Chevrolet pickup truck, court records showed.
