Shoppers across Ireland were left shocked after finding their local Tesco supermarket already stocked with Easter Eggs.With three months to go until Easter, one woman shared a picture of a huge wall of Lindt and Cadbury's Easter eggs, saying it seemed "a bit early" for them to be in stock.She wrote: "Eh [thinking emoji] when is it easter ? April ? #Easter it’s a bit early."
Another person pointed out that there were other festive holidays to come before Easter, replying: "Good lord! What about Valentines Day candy??" One man shared a snap of a display of Cadbury Creme Egg and Crunchie eggs, writing: "Easter eggs in Tesco this morning !! On the 23rd of January - is this a record ??"
Meanwhile another woman wrote on Twitter last week: "It’s the coldest day in January and I’ve just seen a wall full of Easter Eggs in Tesco."It comes following 40 days of Lent, a period of reflection and fasting by Christians in the lead up Easter. However, Lent does not begin for another month, starting on Ash Wednesday or February 22 this year - the day after Pancake Tuesday.
