A teenager is being questioned in connection with a knife attack in Cork that left an 18-year-old in a critical but stable condition in hospital

It is understood a 17-year-old and 18-year-old male had been drinking together in the town when a row broke out between them.He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is believed to be in a critical but stable condition.

The 17 year old was arrested just before midnight under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and is being questioned at Togher Garda Station. Anyone with information is asked to contact Togher Garda station on 021 4947120 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
