Teenager arrested after child seriously injured in Cork hit-and-run

He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held initially for up to 6 hours.

The garda investigation follows an incident yesterday in the Castle Meadows housing estate off the Skehard Road in the Mahon area of the city.He had been playing in his front garden and had followed a ball out onto the quiet road.The child was transferred from Cork University Hospital to Temple Street Children's hospital late last night. He is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
