The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, around 5am.Read more: Drivers should take refresher course to stay on the road says Coroner's Society of Ireland The driver of the car, a male teenager, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act, according to The Irish Times.The young man is being detained at a Garda station in Wicklow under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The road by Slaney Park is closed and local diversions are in place as forensic collision investigators are conducting an examination of the scene. Any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the Slaney Park area between 4.30am and 5am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
