Travelling to the rock, known as Scalp na gCapail, has become a regular after-school pursuit, since the 28-year-old teacher relocated to Co Sligo in recent months.
Now she says she’s enjoying a better quality of life and can start to think about someday being able to afford her own place. The school, in the suburb of Templeogue, has a full complement of teachers this year but there was a noticeable dip in the number of applications for vacant posts over the summer.
"If you compare it to other counties, there appears to be just one or two fixed term positions [available]. "I think the biggest barrier at the moment is accommodation for a teacher and if they are to commute, the cost of fuel is rising as well.

Also, teachers are fearful they might end up in prison for calling a boy a boy, because of 'transphobia'. So there's that.
Wife who’s a Primary teacher heard that some school here in Dublin has 18 vacant positions in the school, most are for teaching positions. That is crazy!
How a young teacher could afford to rent (not to mention buy) in Dublin is beyond me.
