Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said that junior and senior infants are likely to return to school from 1 March

Image: RollingNews.ie Image: RollingNews.ie TAOISEACH MICHEÁL MARTIN has said that 1 March is the likely date that the phased return to education will begin, starting with junior and senior infants as well as Leaving Cert students.

For post-primary, Leaving Cert and fifth-year students will likely return first, with other years returning throughout March. The Taoiseach told the meeting that the UK variant now makes up 90% of all cases of Covid-19 in Ireland and that public health officials are concerned about the impact it might have when the phased reopening begins.

It comes as public health officials today confirmed an additional 650 new cases of Covid-19 and 57 deaths of people with the virus.

That’s no harm seeing as they are all playing together in playgrounds anyway and the parents standing round chatting no social distances

MichealMartinTD says one thing and then LeoVaradkar contradicts. If you want to score politics points use another tactic leave children out of your bullshit

Will this include Naionra?

This is a bullsh1t way to govern, the above story is a leak from a parliamentary party meeting. A kite flying exercise to gauge public opinion

🤣

Yesterday I listened to a teacher rant about how it's unfair for the kids to miss so much time of school so I said to them 'why not just stay in over the summer and catch up so?'. I got abused by that teacher for suggesting such a thing. So that told me all I need to know.

So basically we'll wait until the night before to tell you if there back or not. Because you see we have to have a meeting about that meeting followed by another one before we make a final decision.

MichealMartinTD Likely? What about the rest of kids?

What about the rest of the children They have already lost a year of education with the current none sense. It's about time that they come back and learn properly. Most of the students are far behind their level. They can meet in the playground, but not in class.

Junior and senior infants is for losers.

And still nothing about children with SEN in mainstream who have been completely forgotten about. So if it’s phased re-opening some will be back end of March for one week and then face two weeks ‘holidays’ for Easter Surel this year one week is plenty

Teachers will be crying and complaining about this no doubt. 😭😭 moaners

Does the Taoiseach not know when children are going to return to primary school? He is the leader of the country!

Great start

How am I meant to explain that to my second classer

Likely. FFS. Just say when they are or say nothing.

In other words he has to clear it with the union bosses first.

As per usual Mehole made an announcement but said fuck all 😳 Likely ?

Hope you ran it by the union first Micheal. As you know it’s up to them as they are in charge not OUR government 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ wouldn’t want to stress out our teachers 😆😆😆 whatajoke

Arent junior and senior infants kept separate to other kids in most schools? Get them all back

More spin.... no direction... no leadership

Oh just vaccinate the teachers ffs.

The road for the 4th wave is open. You will ruin 2021 Ireland COVID19

That will help with the fourth peak.

Wonderful news 🥰

Could, maybe, likely, bollox talk

Likely 🙄 just hush unless you're releasing a statement.

What about colleges ? Etc

Infant & Senior Infants....anything more important to dwell on?

Why?
