Michéal Martin said that introducing “packages one month and then the next month” would not be a sustainable way out of the crisis

Taoiseach Micheál Martin doesn't expect any measures taking effect until Budget 2023. Image: PA Taoiseach Micheál Martin doesn't expect any measures taking effect until Budget 2023. Image: PA THE TAOISEACH HAS said cost of living measures can’t be “chased month to month”.

The Taoiseach told ‘On The Record’ that the upcoming statement will “set the scene in terms of identifying the likely resources we are to have available to spend on alleviating pressure”. However, rather than introducing “packages one month and then the next month”, the Taoiseach called for “more sustained and comprehensive measures that will be sustainable”.

He knows the damage is already done and it doesn't matter what they do now there's no turning things around not just here but world wide economy is fucked from the lockdowns and money printing and now they are trying to blame a war for the damage they caused already !!

Easy to say, Mr. Martin. Easy to say for someone who doesn’t have to worry about monthly spending to that point as average citizen has to…

Clearly doing nothing and raking in fuel taxes is more sustainable for him .

Price caps and a new 30% tax rate for working families. Not hard.

then go to the Russian government and start trade talks immediately. Hurry the fcuk up

🤡🤡🤡 of a man

He's worried about sustainability now?

Can't get enough crises. We are addicted to them now

They need time to figure out how to transfer even more public into their donors pockets while at the same time making sure their own investments don't suffer.

Does he mean like the way he and his government have ruined the Irish economy. Even the Irish president of Ireland came out and called him out on his policies and described them as a disaster. The greatest in the history of the State. The leader who can’t.

Christ. Can they not just be proactive, instead of this constant reacting to what ever’s happening? They couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.

Agreed, he needs to tackle the root cause and stop prices spiraling out of control … the packages are mainly for social welfare recipients, some who’ve never worked or never will, because they’re better off this way … start helping paye workers for a change🤔🤔

So instead he'll do nothing and see how it goes...

But the avg Shinner with their begging hands held out wide, are too thick to understand that!

I hate that word sustainable

So doing f all is going to work

Public sector pay talks stall as unions reject 5% increase over two yearsTrade unions critical of Government’s pay offer say it falls ‘far short’ of cost-of-living increases Quite right!! It would be absolutely bonkers for the gov to agree to any pay increase heading into an inevitable recession. With respect to trade unions, the Government have done an amazing job ensuring that important people like Paul Reid, Robert Watt, and the Horse Racing Ireland CEO have been insulated against Cost of Living increases. The Government can't be expected to help everyone.
