Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has hinted that a former winner of Dancing with the Stars could enter politics.

Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony, singer Jake Carter, presenter Mairead Ronan, 2FM host Lottie Ryan, champion jockey Nina Carberry and radio presenter Carl Mullen have all won the hit RTÉ show in recent years.The Taoiseach is a big fan of Dancing with the Stars and has appeared in the audience. He said he will never take part in the show himself - but a former winner could enter politics.

“Even though I will never be entering Dancing with the Stars, don’t understate the ability of people who have been winners to enter politics.”Wild Youth singer David Whelan and his pro-partner Salome Chachua, Paralympian Jason Smyth and his pro partner Karen Byrne, Laura Fox and her pro-partner Denys Samson and Blu Hydrangea and their partner Simone Arena will compete in the final.

“I don't know who's going to win. If you'd asked me a few weeks ago, I would have said David from Wild Youth is doing so well.
