Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has called for “respect” to be shown for the coronation of King Charles after opposition TDs criticised RTÉ’s plans to broadcast four hours of it.

Paul Murphy and Richard Boyd-Barrett, the People Before Profit TDs, both questioned why the national broadcaster was going to give extensive coverage to the ceremony in Westminster Abbey on Saturday.
