Sydney Sweeney has fired back at veteran Hollywood producer Carol Baum who said at an event that the Euphoria star is “not pretty” and “can’t act” — and that her latest film Anyone but You was “unwatchable.”
"She’s not pretty, she can’t act," Baum reportedly said at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, New York, last week. “I don’t get Sydney Sweeney.”Referring to Sweeney's rom-com hit Anyone But You, which was released in December 2023 and went on to gross $218.8 million at the global box office, Baum said, “I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her,” and “I found the film unwatchable.
“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’” Baum said, recalling a conversation she had with her students at The University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. “Nobody had an answer.” Sweeney, who is famed for portraying the role of Cassie Howard in the hit HBO drama Euphoria, has now responded to Baum's sharp criticism through her representatives, who described the Hollywood producer's comments as 'shameful'.
