The former England boss takes charge of a Liverpool Legends team against former Ajax stars at Anfield today having disclosed his terminal cancer diagnosis in January

Sven Goran Eriksson had a simple message for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp when they met earlier today ahead of an exhibition match at Anfield.

Eriksson, who was the first non-Englishman to manage the national team, is a lifelong supporter of the Reds and will manage a team featuring Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyppia and Fernando Torres this afternoon for a game that is raising funds for the club’s foundation. “Anfield has maybe the best atmosphere in the world and part of that is the song when the players come out: You’ll Never Walk Alone,” he said. “It makes me and I’m looking forward to hearing it on Saturday. I’m very honoured and thankful to Liverpool that they give me this opportunity.”.
