The forecaster had originally issued a Status Yellow weather warning for the two provinces, which will still come into place at 12pm this afternoon.
It added that it will be warm at night with temperatures generally staying above 15C, while outside of Leinster and Munster, night-time temperatures will generally not fall below 10 to 15 degrees. Tomorrow is expected to also be a hot and sunny day, with highest temperatures generally between 25C to 30C, possibly reaching the low 30s in a few inland spots in Leinster or Munster.Yesterday marked the highest August temperature in Ireland since 2003, and 9.3C above its 1981-2010 long-term average.
