A Status Yellow high temperature warning is set to come into effect for Ireland tomorrow afternoon, as Met Éireann says some parts of Munster and Leinster will reach 30C today

The forecaster had originally issued a Status Yellow weather warning for the two provinces, which will still come into place at 12pm this afternoon.

It added that it will be warm at night with temperatures generally staying above 15C, while outside of Leinster and Munster, night-time temperatures will generally not fall below 10 to 15 degrees. Tomorrow is expected to also be a hot and sunny day, with highest temperatures generally between 25C to 30C, possibly reaching the low 30s in a few inland spots in Leinster or Munster.Yesterday marked the highest August temperature in Ireland since 2003, and 9.3C above its 1981-2010 long-term average.

— Met Éireann August 11, 2022 Acting Chief Medical Officer Professor Breda Smyth yesterday warned that those who are vulnerable to the effects of heat need to be extra careful during the coming hot spell."Signs of heat exhaustion include headache, dizziness and confusion, loss of appetite and feeling sick, fast breathing or pulse, high temperature of 38C or above and being very thirsty," she said.

Status Yellow high temperature warning to take effect from 12pmYesterday saw the highest August temperature in almost 20 years recorded in Co Carlow. Yes yes. I am ready and pool filled to cool off Think that it always could be worse. Where I am it's been hot (over 30c + heatwaves) all along since mid May. Nights are horribly warm, not going under 22c at all. Many houses have awful insulation (none) or are just badly built, turning into ovens. We really are dumbing down as a society.
