Yesterday, it emerged that the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, had written to the FAI President, Donal Conway, to ask him to withdraw his nomination for re-election to the role at the forthcoming AGM

Members of Sport Ireland are due to appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Sport this morning regarding the governance review of the Football Association of Ireland.

. Mr Ross also claimed that some amendments being proposed at the upcoming Emergency General Meeting of the Association that are aimed at having better governance "beggars belief", particularly a proposal to reduce the quorum of the FAI board from six members to two.
