The families of those who were killed in Ballymurphy, West Belfast in August 1971, have attended a special mass today on the eve of the inquest findings being delivered.

The families of the nine men and one woman say they were all unarmed civilians shot without provocation by members of the British Army's parachute regiment.

Fr Paddy McCafferty said that tomorrow would be a "momentous" day for the families, but that it would also be a "painful" one. Speaking outside after the mass, John Teggart, whose father Danny Teggart was killed, said that the Ballymurphy families were praying for a positive result tomorrow.

The words of Carmel Quinn, who has waited almost half a century to hear a coroner find that her brother and nine others who were shot and killed at Ballymurphy were 'entirely innocent' A damning indictment of the British Parachute Regiment. No wonder the British Government wants an amnesty on military killings. Slap in the face to these people what the British Government came out with today. Slaughtered by the British state who have never held their murderous soldiers to account. They were innocent, therefore they were murdered, not killed.
