There will be a change to the usual social welfare payment dates very soon and recipients should be aware of the shake up so they aren't caught out by the swap

Thanks to the upcoming June Bank Holiday, banks and post offices will be closed on the Monday the 3rd of June.

Child Benefit is paid on the first Tuesday of the month, but when it falls after a bank holiday recipients usually get it early. The first Child Benefit payments for 18-year-olds in full-time education was paid on Tuesday following changes made by the Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys.

Announcing the payments, Minister Humphreys said: "With many children now starting primary school at age five, together with the increase in pupils doing transition year, there has been an increase in the number of 18-year-olds still in secondary education.
