A Sinn Féin TD raised concerns that a proposed site for modular homes for refugees in West Dublin was unsuitable and warned the plans “would have the potential to cause serious divisions in our community”.

Further sites are under consideration by Government as part of a second phase of development in early 2023. A possible site in West Dublin had been identified at the end of July, and Mr Donnelly was among local politicians to receive a briefing on it at the time.

“The department is working hard to foster positive linkages between the local community and those who are being housed there temporarily,” it said. Mr Donnelly noted that he had met local authority officials about how a site zoned as “community infrastructure” was selected and “to also look at how we can work together to quickly ... identify sites for citizens of Dublin West who are currently facing eviction”.

He added: “After 10 years of a housing crisis, this is just unfair and not sustainable as the housing emergency deepens.”

If SF don’t like it, they can just rely on their past demolition experience

SF = SupportingForeigners

Close the borders hypocrites

Nimbyism

Modular homes are not the answer to the HomelessCrisis !!! RaiseTheRoof

One thing for sure, if a Fine Gael or Fianna Fáil politician made such a statement certain people on this platform would be all over it.

SF are finished they want open borders just like the traitors that we have in government I will never vote SF again

Why not have those modular homes for Irish homeless

Same fella was against a skating rink Asked on Facebook if temporary one should go up due to traffic Clown

SF support extreme immigration.

And do you at the Yimes have a probywigh him raising concerns. That’s his job.

😂😂😂

Is that a threat

sinnfeinireland I dream of a Taoiseach, that says the Murder and Rape of Women and Children was “Justified”, that is Supported Politically by Gang-land Criminals, that is Financially Supported by Gang-land Criminals…

So SF object to a site for refugees in this area as it will cause division in the community but the bus loads of men into other areas is ok and anyone that says anything are racist according to SF, isn't that amazing

Are SF far right now, Father ? 🤣🤣

SF are looking for 2nd seats in Dublin West and Dublin Central. They'll go whatever way the wind blows on immigration.

About time someone spoke up ..

Sounds like a threat to me. Yet another housing initiative being obstructed by Sinn Fein.

SF don’t want solutions to housing right now

Always playing both sides.

Love the slogan in the background of the photo. 'Standing up for Ireland'. The party that was once supposed to be the party for the Irish is now the party for Globalism.

No policies SF looking for the wind change.

SF continuing to speak out of both sides of their mouths Sinn Fein - 'the far right is hijacking the refugee issue' Also Sinn Fein - 'no refugees in our constituencies please' Wonder how PaulDonnellySF and jasonlambertSF will try to spin this ... they're not the sharpest 😂

SF objections to practical solutions to the housing crisis have ulterior motives- aimed at putting them into power at national level. Then- look out Ireland. And look out Europe. And President Zelenskyy won't be getting a visit from MLMcD.

Serious divisions in West Dublin communities, seriously? Has he no idea what's been going on across West Dubin, for most of the last 30 years 🙄😒

Some years ago the building off 'modular homes' for the Itinerant Community from Castleknock was rejected they were to be built on the old Phenix park Race course. It would devalue some houses nearby. But eventually were built in Finglas. Part of the Barony of Castleknock. Ex Dub

I find it crazy that our citizens are classified as Right Wing when they raise a question or concerns, while the left ignore and dismiss 'Residence'. The blame for all this hysteria is firmly at Central and Local Governments short and long term planning with little or no comms!

SF internal meetings must be great gas. A mix of elderly anarchists, ex IRA, younger social liberals, the latter spoon fed on identity politics, promoting themselves as Ireland's nationalist party, with a core working class support, who they need to keep onside re immigration.

Why would anyone on the left want another 1 million overcrowding public services?

Are Sinn Fein far right neo nazi racists now? Bandwagon merchants

I get the impression that 'serious divisions in the community' is exactly what they want.

Why are modular homes not being put in the enormous Phoenix Park ? This is an enormosu area which benefits from giving access to all the servies and infrastructure of out Capital City ?

Oh dear

The Sinn Fein TD issued a similar warning a few weeks ago and the location was burned down. I wonder what will happen here?

SF certainly know a thing or two about creating serious divisions in society.

More right wing dog whistling from Sinn Féin.

Like his colleague Patricia Ryan did in Newbridge.

They all know where they get their bread buttered.

So SF are starting to see how the bandwagon is turning and are now testing the water as to whether or not they should jump on it.

Donnelly’s solution is an obvious common sense proposal.

Stick the modular homes in the green area behind Georgian village and see how the locals respond. 🍿

Why are the Irish government falling over themselves to give 'refugees' homes while the native Irish are either going homeless or emigrating ? It's been 100 years since the last civil war. EastWall

Ahem are you neglecting the fact numerous residents also raised concerns as to did residents in Kill, Kildare. It's fascinated me how not one Irish Media outlet or fiannafailparty FineGael or greenparty_ie politician hasn't called out this discriminatory housing notion
