Crime figures released by the Central Statistics Office show a significant increase in fraud offences with more than 7,200 fraud offences recorded from June 2018 to June this year, almost 20 a day.

There were over 100 kidnappings and child abductions and another 29 cases of human trafficking, an increase of 23%. A figure which also reflects the drop in gangland murder and the fact that there has not been a Hutch-Kinahan feud murder in over a year and a half.
