'There's no need for them' - Call to ban 'bully boy' SUVs in urban areas. LunchtimeLiveNT

There is a call for a ban on sport utility vehicles - or SUVs - in urban areas. He says the larger vehicles have an impact on other road users, and drivers need to take this into account."They're far too big for urban areas and suburban areas, they take up a lot more space than other cars do."SUVs are also different from regular cars in that they have much lower visibility - so it's much more difficult to see people around you when you're in an SUV.

"In Paris, inside their equivalent of the M50, there are no SUVs allowed. We can do it, it's probably not that hard to do"."Obviously there will be people who need SUVs who have farms and are pulling trailers and things like that. "But if you're coming into Dublin city centre, or even into Dublin city, you probably don't need it - and maybe take some other form of transport"."Your choice to have an SUV also affects other people, and so you have to think about the impact on other people.

"Because these are big cars that take up a huge amount of space, they probably push cyclists in a bit close to endangering the lives of cyclists, endangering the lives pedestrians."Even parking these things - it makes it much more difficult to see when you're crossing the road if you have to cross behind a parked SUV.00:00:00Main image: Jeep SUVs are seen on a car sales lot in July 2019.

This is literally the ramblings of a grumpy old man. 'In my day' 'Why I oughta' The majority of SUVs I urnan/suburban areas tend to be SUV only in name many of them 'crossovers' their engines tend to range from 1.1-2.0 litre engines and they have the same whell base as a sedan

I certainly back that. These vehicles are thugs in towns and cities.

More rubbish from the cycling Taliban .

Most Suvs are the same bloody size as average car with small engines as well. Not everyone is driving a Range Rover or some American Style pickup. Country gone mad..

The government should ban their sale as part of the climate emergency....Think that is what this call means.

The comment on today that they should also ban big houses & the big wooden spoon was on point ... 🤣

LunchtimeLiveNT We will be back in the caves soon,

LunchtimeLiveNT Where did he get the idea that SUV’s are banned from inside Peripheque in Paris. Was raised but never implemented in 2004 and 2010. Any car older than 2009 cannot enter except for 30 year old vintages.

LunchtimeLiveNT Where did the 'Bully Boy' name come from?

LunchtimeLiveNT A while you’re at it just make a call for a ban on private ownership of land and materials and have them handed over to the enlightened hand of the state.

LunchtimeLiveNT The Ford rangers are embarrassing.

LunchtimeLiveNT Ah lads,,,,

LunchtimeLiveNT Ffs what next. This country is a joke.
