Mike Allen, head of advocacy at homeless charity Focus Ireland, said the situation was now “totally shocking”.
“All these are better than saying ‘here is a voucher and clear off’, that is the worst,” he told The Irish Times.Homeless asylum seekers: ‘We are in a very difficult position. We will have to sleep on the streets again’There was concern that if the numbers of asylum seekers left without accommodation continued to increase day on day they would soon make up a significant portion of rough sleepers in Dublin city, he said.
Homeless services had a concern the trend could lead to a greater acceptance of rough sleepers and a “lowering of expectation and standards” to address the issue, he said.
Shocking rise in homeless Irish People over 11000 now of which nearly 4000 are children. Are the government and there mouth piece media going to use homeless asylum seekers to cover this up
They know where the airport is located.
Did the Dáil write this one for you as well ……..
Deport,,we have no room,we are only a little country
Who cares about unvetted asylum seekers the Irish people should be a priority not unvetted asylum seekers not Algerian or Nigerian or Ukrainians the government should remember it's the people who have the power to kick them out WeWantAnElection FineGeal&FinnaFailOut
Good
Shocking rise in Irish Homeless..Darragh o'brien playing a stormer
What about the homeless Irish people, we didn't have to take in so many fake asylum seekers..
They already have a home unless we are now importing the homeless of other continents.
Not shocked by the numbers of homeless the government decided to bring in another 100.000 homeless. IrelandIsFull
Give them Ronit Lentin's address and her graduates too. Joe O'Brien, Rodders. Mark Malone while your at it and all the RefugeesWelcome brigade
Why are they not sent back to country of origin? It is inhumane to let them loose on the streets. We appear to be full.
31 How about over 11,000 Irish homeless?
How the Hell is it 'Shocking' . Didn't Ireland run out of tents to put people in Months ago and hasn't nearly every local community being saying they don't want their towns loaded with direct provision centers .
Boo hooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Can we not use the Daìl car park for these tents - it has gardai 24 hrs a day and it might make politicians actually do their job and sort it quicker
Surely people advocating for these refugees can offer them a couch?
Starting to look like San Francisco.
You see, once we accept the headline it then becomes engrained within our society. The number will rise and rise but we become accustomed to the headline and begin to accept it as we have done with rents, housing shortages, homelessness, price gouging, energy hikes and murders.
great, send them back on the airline they came with
Roderick, where are you?
Send them to we welcome refugees crowd. They love shouting their mouths off let them back it up !
Shocking you can’t see the 11.5k homeless people on streets. 31 make you “shocking” and 11500 you don’t give a Fxxk? Shame!
Send them to the Dail and all the councillors and Ngo staff. Each of these people can house at least one and will be delighted to do so. Next to the Irish Times offices and Rte studios for shelter
Why aren't the Refugees Are Welcome crowd out at the office on Mount Street offering to take these men from strange lands into their homes and hearts? A shocking failure to step up the plate by them yet again.
How is this shocking? You were told that Ireland was full.
Yes, shocking is right. Shocking that our government continues to bring these people into the country despite not being able to house them. The solution is not to find more subpar accommodation, it's stop the influx.
