The legendary musician has had to deal with a number of losses over the last few years, including her father, her manager John Dunford and her partner, Leo Healy.
"I myself read a lot of books on how to deal with grief, especially when you lose someone you love or for me, animals as well," she explained. "I have a lot of cats and dogs and their little lives are very short, so it’s heartbreaking when they die. My animals here are all rescues, cats and dogs. I’ve had a lot of them die on me in the last four years because they’re all getting old now.
She hasn't let the sad times overpower her happy times though, as she recently celebrated 30 successful years of music - what are her highlights? "Some other highlights are the amazing tours I went on with a huge big band and various different guests, such as Shane MacGowan, Imelda May, Mundy, Damien Dempsey - all these fantastic people guesting with us and recording with us. Getting all these different awards down through the years was also amazing and I’m very honoured.
