William Wragg says he was compromised into giving phone numbers of MPs after sending intimate photographs of himself

Conservative MP William Wragg said he gave phone numbers of colleagues to a man he met on a dating app. The incident is reported to be part of a wider operation targeting people working in the British parliament. Photograph: PRU/AFP via Gettyhas admitted supplying the personal details of fellow MPs to someone he met online, saying he had felt compromised after he sent them intimate photographs of himself.

The Times said those colleagues were then sent unsolicited flirtatious messages and two MPs had responded by sending explicit photographs of themselves. Finance minister Jeremy Hunt said: “The events of the last few days have been a great cause for concern.”A spokesperson for parliament said they were working to understand the messages, which have heightened concerns that MPs could be vulnerable to cyberattacks and bribery.
