Former TUI President Gerard Craughwell said the Department of Education has a litany of unanswered questions

The school system is unprepared for a ‘Big Bang’ return of all schools, a former teachers’ union boss warned today.

He said TDs and Senators should be brought back from their holidays to sort out the imminent schools reopening crisis.He said that the Government has not thought through its “poor plan” and he points to a number of vital supports that need to be in place that have not yet been provided for. Mr Craughwell said that he is representing the concerns of hundreds of parents, teachers and schools management figures who have come to him looking for help in recent days.

Mr Craughwell told the Irish Mirror: “I believe that all of society would benefit from the opening of schools.
