Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan had a heartfelt message about young people and the toll Covid-19 has taken on their lives.
"Mine are 18 and almost 20 so almost anything that they do school college, hanging out with friends, dating, going to nightclubs, going to the pub and travelling. These are all the things they look forward to. Basically being with their friends. Dr Holohan went on to explain to Tubridy that while he understands why young people are fed up with the pandemic he wants to reiterate that the virus can not only affect them but their loved ones around them.
Dr Holohan said that while health chiefs are very concerned about the level the virus is currently spreading he did give some hope that real change could come in the next few weeks.
