It came following on from his side’s 1-0 triumph over Finland thanks to a superb strike from Aleksei Miranchuk - meaning Russia bounced back from an underwhelming opening 3-0 defeat to Belgium, with the latest triumph giving them hope of advancing through to the knockout stages.
