Rugby Star Simon Zebo Opens Up About Being the Most Abused Player on the Pitch

Rugby ace Simon Zebo has opened up about being “the most abused player” on the pitch – even when he was scoring tries for Ireland .

“I would’ve been quite used to it from an early age. For me at times, it can be water off a duck’s back. I don’t take much notice but there have been times where I have gone out and scored a hat-trick and still been the most abused player.“No matter what you do, people are always going to try and get at you.”

“It’s a different generation, a younger generation and it is a society heavily built on social media so there is always going to be that scrutiny and pressure and it’ll be upped if you do matches in recent years. The 34-year-old was speaking at the launch of Heineken’s 0.0 new collaboration with the rugby player and designer, Barbara Bennett.
