RTE bosses would not officially confirm the use of AI, but said: “a standard post-production process was used as part of the artistic direction.”The spokesperson said: “A refresh of images was done to create uniformity for the station's current line-up of presenters. “Previous images were 10-15 years old in some cases. A live photoshoot took place of the RTÉ Radio 1 presenters and a standard post-production process was used as part of the artistic direction.
He explained: “Photoshop now has some AI features built in, so RTE’s use of AI in post processing could indicate they used Photoshop AI to denoise the image and add the artificial background blur - what’s called ‘bokeh’. That's what it looks like to me. “Depends on your point of view whether it's trickery or not. If they were actual computer generated images now that would be a different story.
