RSA asks non-essential workers to cancel driving tests

The Road Safety Authority has asked people not to attend driving tests for the next six weeks under Level 5 restrictions if they are not an essential worker.

The Agency is asking anyone who is not in this category but has an appointment within the next six weeks to cancel their test online so the test can be given to an essential worker. Essential workers are permitted to travel to driving tests under Level 5 restrictions but are advised to bring proof of appointment in case they are questioned by gardaí.

National Car Tests and Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Tests are deemed essential services and will be continuing under Level 5.

RSAIreland I’m in college up in Dublin and the buses have been cut and my dad is essential worker and so can’t bring me ? I can’t see anyone from another household with it being level 5 to bring me.. can I still sit my test ? Although I’m not a worker going to college is still essential?

Surely doing your theory test is essential? As it’s the first step in learning to drive! These restrictions really are just holding people back

Don’t worry...IF you pass there’s a 6 week wait for an appointment to apply for a full license which will take a further 2/4 weeks to get and NOT allowed to drive alone if you do not have your actually license!

My daughter works in retail she worked all through last lockdown and she has her test tomorrow waiting since March, she is not cancelling. I'll light a candle in the morning when lmao in town 🙏

Also the same request for renewing drivers licence. But you can’t check if you will get a new appointment before your licence runs out without first cancelling your first appointment. Big risk to take.
