Phillip Harris Ali, known as 'Dr Death', was arrested after admitting to a dog being killed in a dog fight in Ireland. Shocking recordings of gruesome dog fights were found on his phone, leading to his conviction for multiple offenses under the Animal Welfare Act.

The ringleader of a brutal dog fighting gang was nailed after he was heard admitting a dog was killed in a horror scrap in Ireland .

“Olivia’s matched in February, the end of February, so eh I’ll tell you more about it. So it looks like we’re going over to Ireland. Not for no money but f*cking hell what can you do. A fight is better than nothing,” Ali is heard saying in a clip that ultimately nailed him in court this week. Investigators with the RSPCA’s Special Operations Unit determined that the fatal fight occurred in the south of the Republic of Ireland between 25-27 February 2022.

“It was clear from the messages that Ali was treating very sick and ill dogs, he talks about putting dogs on drips and injecting them, the dogs ‘hanging on’, being sick and having very bad diarrhoea. Dog-fighting paraphernalia, including a slat mill, two treadmills, four break sticks and two flirt poles, were also recovered.

Sixteen dogs were seized from the Leadleys' address, including bull breeds thought to have been used for fighting, many being kept in poor conditions in a garage, plus two smaller breeds who were removed on welfare grounds from the house.

The jury also found him guilty of a further nine offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, including keeping a premises for use in fighting, taking part in a fight by refereeing, and keeping and/or training a dog for use in a fight.
