Image: Laura Hutton/Photocall Ireland JUST 33 PUBLIC electric vehicle charge points have been approved under a scheme announced three years ago that was intended to develop up to 200 charge points per annum.

Only three local authorities have signed up to the on-street public charge point scheme so far with Louth County Council getting the all-clear for the highest number of charge points of any council in the scheme. More than 80% of EV charging is expected to happen at home and most users will “never need to access the public network except for longer journeys”, Minister Eamon Ryan said in his PQ response.

Minister Ryan also said there will be a “significant increase in funding” for public charging points later this year.A new grant scheme was announced last week to support people living in apartments and other places without a driveway to access charge points for electric vehicles.

Local Authorities don't seem enthusiastic about this. In Derry they reorganised the street layout in the Diamond. It converted the parking area including a EV charging point to tables. Mind I suspect 2 EV charging points in another Car Park are taken up by other cars when full.

'Buy the car... Fuck the details' ....... The govs most recent electric green plan..

See thats the plan, get us all on evs and not be able to charge them so we cant drive 😜

Brussels approves plan to fund scrappage of trawlersScheme to encourage some Irish owners to retire their fishing vessels described as ‘necessary evil’ That should be the government's slogan. 'Nessesary Evil' But they'll let the Spanish plunder what we have. Only if Irish waters are turned into a marine park & no fishing rights. We would make more on marine tourism anyway. The marine life would then recover and those old fishing villages would be great places to live and work.
