Rhasidat Adeleke now holds the Irish 400m records for both indoor and outdoor. Photograph: Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty ImagesRhasidat Adeleke on Saturday smashed the Irish 400m indoor record of Karen Shinkins of 51.58 seconds, which had stood since 2002, with a stunning time of 50.45 at the University of New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
The time represents the fastest in history by an Irishwoman, indoors or out, while also ranking Adeleke, still only 20, as the fastest time in the world this year. Adeleke’s new indoor 400m record also improves on her own outdoor 400m record of 50.53 set in August 2022. It marks another huge leap forward for the Dublin sprinter, with only Olympic gold/silver medallists Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Femke Bol having clocked faster times indoors.
Well done fantastic
What a fantastic performance!
Impressive. Congratulations
yawn
That's awesome
Shure, look at the colour of the skin on most of the ‘English’ athletes. Rhasidat is Irish, for all intents and purposes.
Amazing! Congratulations to her.
🔥 🔥 🔥 She is amazing 👏
Africa produces great athletes 👍
Wow this girl is on fire
Great performance Rhasidat. Well done 👏
This girl is a serious operator, hopefully she can be given the right supports to fully utilize the obvious world class talent she has. A legitimate Olympic medal contender
Who
Well done young lady…
Brilliant to see. Fair play 👏 🇮🇪
If I was born on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic ocean would I be from the boat?
What many of the racists commenting on this thread don't know is Rhasidat Adeleke was born in Dublin making her Irish. Not all of immigrant extraction are scroungers living off the taxpayer but are hard-working families wanting to do what's best for their new adoptive countries.
👏👏👏👏
This Lady is Wonderful! And to the racist nitwits commenting here: She is your Biological, Intellectual and Spiritual Superior. She is an Ambassador for Ireland You lot might be good only for orgam donation, and even that'd be debatable; most you scrotes live on junkfood
Well done.
Brilliant rhasidat, well done
Congratulations!!
That's great but their is one problem she isn't Irish
My favorite athlete on the Planet.
Her Irish ancestors would be proud
congrats Rhasidat, well done young lady
If I move to another country I will always be Irish but if that country gives me everything for free I will claim I am anything
Nice, shes African though, not Irish. The Irish state give her a passport - wrongly. Send her back.
If only she was Irish
Can’t wait for the Irish basketball team
Well done 👏
She got everything handed to her when her family moved here you never see a person off colour street no they get a car money and a house and payments under sun if you’re born in real Irish family ya good look asking for anything you get a kick in the teeth fake Irish she is
Shill media all ways fails the real Irish people she probably everything handed to her because she person of colour and probably would scream racist if she didn’t like they all do
Once she’s proud to call herself Irish.. Who cares? 🇮🇪
If she's Irish, I'm Nigerian!
Great representative for Ireland! Nevermind the twitter swamp full of anonymous cowardly racists. Each one must have 10 accounts. We are all very proud 🇮🇪
When we see an Irish people competing for another country there isn't one of us that doesn't ask 'why aren't they competing for us, their home country?' I presume many countries in Africa do the same...
'Irish'
It's extremely sad that this irish athlete is being haranged because of poor government policies. I wonder if Paul mc Grath is now in the firing line. Also Irish, black and talented. Shame on the haters who are directing frustrations in the wrong place.
There's no point in Irish kids getting into running anymore. Their places will go to Africans. Play a different sport kids. Irish athletics belongs to the Africans now. IrelandisFull Plantation MakeIrelandSafeAgain
She could represent her own country if she wanted to. She could have chosen to live in Ireland but to represent Rwanda, or wherever it is she's from. But no, she chose to steal from Irish kids who were dreaming of representing their country on the international stage. Sad.
Brilliant 👏👏👏 Fook the Irish Times though. No fake German shepherd's in this one 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The usual racist scum in this thread
Good for him , well done
Irish lol and bin laden is polish 🤣🤣🤣
Great job africa you won again how brave of you
Absolutely fantastic. Star in the making. ❤️
A classy girl in every way bringing pride and joy. And already two stupid comments from dim racists
So proud! Fantastic achievement 🇮🇪⭐️😊🏃🏽♀️ What a role model for our daughters and young women. You’re an inspiration rhasidatadeleke 🇮🇪⭐️😊🏃🏽♀️👏🏻
Well done Rashidat. Keep going
Africa must be proud
This is a great result for Africa
