Passenger numbers on public transport have fallen by up to 75% because of the Covid-19 crisis according to the National Transport Authority

However, the NTA intends to maintain "the vast majority of services" provided by Iarnród Éireann, Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann, Go Ahead Ireland, Luas and Local Link.

It found that daily numbers are down across all types of transport with the reduction ranging from 70% to 75%.

It's all planned. Some people wanted to create a crisis so they just did it .It is obvious that people in charge had to figure out a situation which helps them to deal with growing population.10yr ago the used bankers to robb us now they went one step further and used bio weapon..

Thank you to the public transport companies and staff. Am grateful that passenger numbers have reduced because it was impossible (and terrifying) to keep away from coughing, sneezing, sniffing people 😷🤧😩😬

I don't understand, why, why public transport is not minimised to maximum or shut down already. Spread of virus is getting worse... Why Ireland is not taking an opportunities to minimise it...?

I’m a driver for bus eireann trust me the NTA are right if you keep the bus timetables normal you have less people on the bus reduced timetable means more people on the bus

And my Mammy will be back down to Cork tomorrow to chauffeur me back to Kerry! I could get used to it...

Could be something to do with mass unemployment

So they’ll cut buses and trains and force those still travelling on to the same service. Smart. 🤦🏻‍♂️

You'd hope so

Why would anyone use public transport unless absolutely necessary. 30% reduction, I'd have expected it to be much more! More like 90% 5:15 from Dublin Connolly to Maynooth,....normally standing room only
