Your weekly shop is getting more expensive, with a new estimate from Eurostat suggesting consumer prices rose here by 8.2% in the year to the end of May.
To help make sense of what’s going on, we’ve taken a closer look at a selection of everyday grocery item. But what's muddying the water too is the fact that toilet paper is regularly one of those things that’s on special offer in a shop – so you buy a big multipack at a discount rather than buying a small packet.
And that’s led many to switch their packaging over to paper and cardboard; it’s easier to recycle, it doesn’t leech harmful chemicals and at the end of its life, unlike plastic, it biodegrades. The price per tonne jumped from just over $600 in September to more than $900 last month – so a 50% increase in a very short space of time.
They can shove it up their arse! 😁
The day will come when you'll be wiping your ass with Euros.
All those who stocked up in 2020, who’s laughing now..
paper and board is very expensive and there aren’t that many paper mills in existence as there once was. Everyone wants recycled paper which is an additional step in the conversion process.
Try 61%. Tesco toilet paper up from 2.75 to 4.45.... As purchased yesterday Tesco Blanchardstown. Going to the loo is becoming an expensive past time.
SHITE 😉

Price shock: Why biscuits are costing moreA biscuit might be a bit of a luxury item, but they're a fairly common one in your average grocery shop.
