Poultry flock owners have been issued with an order to house their birds from Monday 7 November onwards due to a rising number of bird flu cases in wild birds

The order from Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue was issued under Animal Health and Welfare regulations this morning.Poultry keepers are being urged maintain vigilance and strict bio-security measures around their flocks.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has also said that although the H5N1 subtype can cause serious disease in poultry and other birds, the risk of infection to humans is considered to be very low. IFA National Poultry chairman Nigel Sweetman appealed to all poultry families to exercise"high vigilance".

Ignore it. another attempt to keep the spectre of virology in people's minds when this is yet another misclassification of illness in birds from poisoning wild birds and the poor living standards of caged birds.
