Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris has said that the system needs to be reconsidered to suit various students with different types of learning styles and interests. Speaking on Spin 1038 this morning, the minister said that the Leaving Cert should be looked at by the Department of Education in the wake of the pandemic to think about how the government can “do better by students”.

Absolutely. Its ready for the bin. We need self starters, critical thinkers, can do and all that good stuff. Not people who are good at rote learning and need to be told what to do.

Its the grant system which needs reform. Grants for the wealthy refused to the poor because of a tax system which favours one over the other.

Easy. It antiquated and not fit for purpose.

It's one of the few things in this country where people of power & influence have not been able to corrupt.

I’d say yes but if you let FF/FG do it they’ll dictate the whole thing by what a small group of multinational employers want. It’ll be goodbye to the arts

I suffer with high functioning anxiety, I also battled depression in 2016-19. I gained strategies to help me regain a positive mental health but with lockdown they've been on hold.
