Odhran Lynch: A day to forget for the Magherafelt native. Was stranded outfield for three of Donegal’s four goals and was sent the wrong way by Oisin Gallen’s penalty. Kickout were generally sound. 5.5
Eoin McEvoy: His move to centre-half has been a positive one for Derry. However, Daire Ó Baoill gave him the runaround on Saturday. A tough day for the young Magherafelt man. 5 Ethan Doherty: Derry’s best player by some considerable distance. Scored three classy scores from play in the first half and added another in the second. Got on a ton of ball and rarely wasted anything. Needed more from his colleagues. 8
Shane McGuigan: The top scorer in Division One, Shane McGuigan was superbly marked by Brendan McCole. Frustration told as he committed a few fouls and only scored his two points from play late on. 6 Donncha Gilmore: In for the closing 12 minutes and, perhaps, could have been in sooner. Will hope to see more game time in the All-Ireland series. 5.5Donegal ratings Shaun Patton: Few keepers in the modern game possess the ability to ping a ball as far down the field as Shaun Patton. Donegal used his kickout to great effect and plundered two vital goals directly from Patton’s restarts. 8
Ryan McHugh: Gave a timely reminder of his undoubted class as he turned in a devastinging display of pace and precision. Scored two cracking points from play and had a hand in a host of other scores for Donegal. 8 Michael Langan: Up against one of the country’s finest footballers in Conor Glass, but Michael Langan wasn’t found wanting and edged the duel. 7.5
