Around 25,000 people usually climb the 2,500ft to the top of Croagh Patrick on Reek Sunday

Traditionally today is the day thousands of pilgrims would be expected to climb Croagh Patrick in Co Mayo.

However, this year people have been asked to stay away to avoid overcrowding and traffic problems given the requirments of social distancing. Around 25,000 people usually climb the 2,500ft to the top of Croagh Patrick on Reek Sunday, which is the last Sunday in July.
