People who are exempt from TV licence fee after Taoiseach’s new announcement

Taoiseach Micheal Martin announced that the TV Licence technical group is still meeting to discuss different models.

He shared that while he’s not sure when they will report back with suggestions, he would prefer a universal levy as it would be more sustainable to resource media.There have been several discussions over the years of how to increase revenue in this area as the government is currently faced with an evasion rate of over 15pc on the €160 fee.Who does not have to pay for the TV licence? If you are aged over 70, you can get a TV licence free as part of the Household Benefits Package.

Who has to pay for a TV licence? Anyone who has a TV, or equipment capable of receiving a television signal must have a TV licence.However, no matter how many TVs you have in the house, you only need one TV licence.
