Pat Flanagan: RTE can't call itself national broadcaster if it shuts Cork studio

If RTE decide to close down and sell off their Cork studio they can never dare call themselves the national broadcaster.

Typical of RTE, their staff in Cork were not told of the plans and only learned they might be out of a job when they read it in a Sunday newspaper. and this prompted the Irish Mirror to launch the Cork Beo website, which has been fantastic success since its launch in May. The programmes put out from there including The Today Show with Maura Derrane and Daithi O Se and John Creedon’s excellent show on Radio 1 have their own Cork flavour.

I have lived in Cork for 62 years and git rid of my tv because of RTE's political bias and general contempt the public - sell it off and put a Pound shop in there
