Paddy Clancy: The escalating Covid-19 crisis is the public’s own fault

We are far too inclined to criticise the public health chiefs and our Cabinet and complain that they are misinforming us about the pandemic.

Covid hasn’t gone away, you know! Not in Dublin, nor anywhere else in Ireland despite the semi-celebrations out in the sticks. Just as frightening, was that the 155 Covid cases outside the Pale added up to 40 per cent. The 176 cases on the same day in the North added to the growing discomfort. The unbelievable hike of daily illnesses into the mid-100s will mean only one thing. If we don’t get our act together and strictly observe the precautions from health chiefs on hand-washing, social distancing and reduced contacts we’ll never beat the virus.

Ireland will have to continue living with Covid-19 until at least the end of 2021, the Taoiseach told Brendan O’Connor on RTE.Sign-up for the Irish Mirror newsletter Sign up for our newsletter today!
