Over a quarter of a million hospital appointments were cancelled in 2023, new figures released by the HSE have shown.The figures were released to Sinn Féin’s health spokesperson David Cullinane following a parliamentary question to Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.
“In each case that represented a phone call to somebody who has waited with worry to be told that the care they need has now been cancelled. Some 800 chemotherapy appointments for children were cancelled. In response, Mr Harris argued that since the last general election in 2020, an additional 28,000 staff are working in the Irish health service.
