This is part of the government’s new package to recognise the hard work of healthcare workers that were on the frontline during the pandemic.
It is currently being reported that 100,000 healthcare employees within the HSE will be given the payment. Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has explained that it was aimed at those working in the public sector who were on-site treating or assisting Covid-19 positive patients in clinical settings in the employment of the HSE.
He said that the thought behind the payment was to make those who were engaging with the public in healthcare which held a higher risk eligible.
