Students will be asked to self-certify that they are complying with the rules in online assessments and tests

Face-to-face end of year exams have been cancelled at the country's third level colleges and students will be asked to self-certify that they are complying with the rules in online assessments and tests that will in many instances replace them.

A spokesperson for the university said lecturers may well employ added security measures such as the spot calling of students, to ensure that the right person is completing the exam. Maynooth University is the latest university to announce its plans. Its exams will be replaced with equivalent remote assessment.

Third level institutions are attempting to put measures in place to ensure fairness and quality assurance. They are also examining ways of preventing personation.

That’s an idea that only this government could come up with .. Jesus Christ

A cop out by university management.

It woul make more sense to postpone the exams a few months. Online exams make a mockery of educational standards. The qualifications of an institution implementing this would be worthless.

Sure they're only cheating themselves...😂

Yeah right 😂😂😂

Ultimately they will only cheat themselves in the long run

This is easily solved. Make this assessment mandatory to do but don't attach a grade to it. Make it pass or fail. Grade the final overall mark out of the written paper. Otherwise it's unfair on those who work hard to secure a 2.1 or 1.1 by having 2.2 or pass students cheating

This is pure idiocy.

WilliamMcGowa15 Priceless. ‘Trusting’ students not to cheat when they have every chance to do so.
