One of Sylvester Stallone's most beloved movies is getting a reboot

Stallone will be reprising his role in the sequel that comes from one of the producers of the Fast & Furious movies.Stallone starred in the 1993 movie as Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Walker, a former mountain rescuer traumatised after a deadly incident who is persuaded to go assist a group of stranded hikers. However, upon meeting them, Gabe realises that they are actually a gang of violent criminals that need help locating millions of stolen dollars missing over the mountain after a plane crash.

Directed by Renny Harlin , Cliffhanger earned solid reviews from critics, with critics singling out its tense opening scene and the movie’s impressive stunt work for praise.Stallone will return for the Cliffhanger rebootAs reported in multiple outlets, Ric Roman Waugh will helm the reboot from a script by Mark Bianculli , with Stallone set to return in the part of Gabe. Casting for other roles in the movie is also said to be underway.

“When Gabe and a high-profile client are taken hostage during an adventurous weekend trip, his daughter has to use all her climbing skills to outwit the kidnappers, triggering a battle of life and death,” the synopsis goes on to read.” In a statement, Waugh, who is in a producer role, wrote of the sequel, “Growing up with the biggest action films of the ’80s and ’90s, working on many of them myself, Cliffhanger was by far one of my favorite spectacles. To be at the helm of the next chapter, scaling the Italian Alps with the legend himself, Sylvester Stallone, is a dream come true. It’s going to be a great challenge and blast taking this franchise to new heights, a responsibility I don’t take lightly.
