One Covid-19 related death has been recorded in the past 24 hours, while 35 new cases were confirmed

related deaths in the Republic of Ireland, while there has been a total of 26,801 confirmed cases since the outbreak of the virus.

Six cases were reported in Carlow, five in Clare, and the remaining 24 spread across Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Limerick, Meath, Offaly, Tripp and Wexford.Five of the new cases were transmitted in the community, while 24 are associated with previous outbreaks of confirmed cases. While Tuesday's figures do represent a decrease in numbers, acting Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn did point out that it is far too soon to see whether recent lockdown measures in Laois, Offaly and Kildare have had a positive impact. He said:"The number of confirmed cases notified to us daily is likely to rise and fall this week. It is important to look at the wider trends we see in this disease in Ireland for context, and not simply one day’s figures in isolation.

"It will be next week before we see if measures introduced last weekend in Kildare, Laois and Offaly have had the desired effect in suppressing Covid-19 in these areas and minimising community transmission." Earlier on Tuesday, news emerged that Naas General Hospital had confirmed an outbreak of Covid-19 on one ward., with America accounting for a quarter of the global case total. The Architects of Business...
