Fine Gael Senator and former minister Regina Doherty has hit back at a well-known NPHET member over his reaction to a Lidl advertisement about the sale of antigen tests.
He encouraged people to continue to wear masks and social distance and added: “These antigen tests will not keep you safe.” A Government source said that public health experts and scientists “are at odds” over the use of antigen testing, as there is fear that the public will give a false sense of security.
Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris has said antigen testing will be a tool used to get students safely back to college campuses.
