Two mistakes we all make can have a huge effect on our hearing

Wireless earphones and headphones have become increasingly popular in recent years as a means for people to listen to music, but their usage has also increased from people working at home and attending Zoom meetings or Skype calls.

“It is advised not to let the volume creep over 60% and again most phones and devices will let you know if you go above the recommended volume level. Martina also stressed the importance of cleaning your earphones or earbuds every single day, as failing to do so can damage your hearing. “People try to remove the wax themselves without getting it properly looked at and are damaging their ears further.

“Any time we get queries about children we always advise them to seek help from their GP first, and then they will be referred to HSE for further testing,” she explains.
