Ulster Bank’s latest purchasing managers’ index (PMI) points to pick-up in output, new orders and employment

Northern Ireland’s economy has enjoyed a strong bounce in activity since the return of powersharing arrangements in February.

This extended a sequence of increased activity seen over the last six month but most significantly since February when the Northern Ireland’s powersharing executive was re-established following a two-year boycott by Democratic Unionists.Cult leader or canny investor? Ulster Bank also noted that responding companies responded to higher new orders by taking on extra staff at a solid pace, with the rate of job-creation at a 10-month high. Some firms also raised employment to prepare for future expansion, it said.
