The Government wants schools to be more 'reflective' of diverse communities.

For generations, a crucifix on the wall or a statue of the Virgin have been common sights in schools across Ireland. However, as the nation becomes increasingly secular, the Government is drawing up plans that ensure new multi-denominational schools are “reflective” of the entire school community.

Adding, “There’s too many; say, if you take at the moment, to oversimplify the problem, you’ve Catholic iconography and therefore people who aren’t Catholic feel left out or alienated. For him, religious belief is on a par with a political ideology and no school in Ireland would suggest honouring a political creed.

It's not religious symbols that are the problem. It's the living Board of Management, usually controlled and chaired by the local Parish Priest.

this is so stupid because Catholic schools everywhere do literally nothing to intefere with religion of students

It's funny, but atheist Ireland give the impression of diversity, but underneath it really is 'anti-Catholic'. They really do deserve Islam if it comes.

VERY SIMPLE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT GO

Why can't Texas be more like Ireland!?

I think religious orders should tell the state to get their own fucking property see how much access people have to education and healthcare then

Atheist Ireland should be mindful of our histroy Penal Laws and I for one can assure them we are not going back there..

The whingeing 5% dictating policy to impact the 95%

So will hijabs and halal meat be banned? If not why not? Seeing as there is no reason to have religious symbols in schools. This will only be one way as usual.

Does that include the new religion of the rainbow community, no pride flags or gender wu wu indoctrination.

We must take account of the views of tiny minorities but we cannot be governed by them. I actually share your view about religious symbols but I respect the wishes of the majority. It’s called democracy!

Catholic or Christian families want the option of their kids going to a religious school, so we discriminate against them to suit atheist Ireland? Which accounts for approx 5% of the population. You do know there are non religious schools already

Atheism is a belief system - i this new diverse country not everyone subscribes to atheism and so our schools should not be forced to subscribe to an ideology that many don’t feel comfortable with

Don't agree...why get rid of our Irish heritage to appease other nationalities?

The Government want to destroy the National Identity of the Irish as well as their culture, heritage and traditions.

Including any Islamic headscarfs, sexually discriminatory

Hence starts the destruction of Irish Culture, History & Language !!

Then in one brush of a pen write a law stating no religion will be taught in public schools and there is no baptism/christening requirements to go to school and IF parents want their children to attend private Christian religious schools then they must pay the cost to the school.

So why doesn't Gov open up secular schools rather than demand faith schools change to suit the lib progressive atheist agenda.

☝️🤓

Keep removing the church and watch the country get worse and worse.

Unless, of course, they're linked to Native American religious practices: We live in the Republic of Clown World:

Sorry I'm not a Catholic, but their values are great.

How about making some areas of Dublin more diverse..

Open season again on Catholics and people who believe in God. Freedom of religion is protected in the Irish Constitution so why is it always Catholics being targeted. Groups like Atheist Ireland should have zero input as they don’t even believe he exist so why are they bothered?

Atheist Ireland 🙄 why are Atheist worried about Religion and God when they don’t even believe he exists. Stop enforcing anti religious bigotry and Atheist views onto us.

Let’s strip away every part of Irish history, culture, beliefs & colour! Let’s import all that we can from every country in the world & make Ireland a pic & mix of race and culture! Let’s loose our identity and become nothing! Some one remind me why we had a war of independence?

Just anything bar catholicism is really what your trying to say!!! If these clowns hate 'catholic Ireland' so much why don't they piss off to their atheist utopia in china or somewhere like it?

Schools need to be set up to accommodate different diversities. Attacking Christians again is not the answer. It’s hate speech.

Any chance we can have diversity of opinion on the radio?

The government are going after our kids now..this is a world paedo conspiracy and we need to take action now.

So will Muslim schools or Jewish or church of Ireland be made more diverse as well

So it begins...

Kill God and watch what follows...

Like it or not we’re a Christian country. Suck it up satan!

There is if they are religious schools.

Ireland edges more and more towards Communist Chinas blueprint. I have no doubt if they remove God they will only replace Him with state worship. All Catholic schools should remain Catholic, if parents don’t want a Catholic school then simply pick another.

Ireland is catholic and should stay that way 🇻🇦🇮🇪 we need less diversity not more

Claiming there is a “god” as claiming there isn’t a “god” are equally without proof, imaginary friends or the lack of one is not illegal, if you’re offended by someone’s belief then you are the problem

Atheist Ireland are a radicalised extremist group. They do not deserve such airtime.

Respect the country that has adopted you

What ever happened to “respecting the culture” of the country you’re in? We are predominantly a Catholic country… why are we moving away from that for the sake of refugees who come here for sanctuary. Look at Qatar right now. Teams can’t even wear a One Love armband.

You want Ireland to be atheist and a multicultural kip

No reason to have a Muslim call to prayer on croke park either.

Aontú have slammed the decision by Dublin City Council to leave the word ‘Christmas’ out of their 2022 festival promotional material as the city lights up for the festive season — opting instead to use the phrase “winter lights”.

The word 'Diverse' Diverse once it has no❗ impact or touches chrildrens sexual status as a Male or Female. Diverse is a very blank statement. Fill in the gaps pls, on your power fraze heading better❗❗

I'm not going to knock any religion but so if we go to these diverse communities countries they will do the same ,wake up we have done more than enough way above other countries next thing we will cancel X mas laugh at my comment laugh but just WAIT AND SEE we are heading there

Let’s have more 🏳️‍🌈 flags :D

It should be an interesting chat when they arrive with that news in Clonskeagh

I'm very comfortable with Christian symbols being in schools here in Ireland

Satans minions are hard at work!

Why is there no reason wer a Catholic country there Catholic schools if ur an atheist that's Ur own business I am a Catholic it's a Catholic country no need to have a call to prayer in a Muslim country ya don't see me telling them not to mind ya own business

Also, these religious institutions harboured and protected hundreds of child rapists for decades while stuffing an oppressive theocracy down everyone's throats. They don't deserve government-funded promotion.

Would that mean a Muslim female coukd not cover her hair in school ?

No need to have symbols, outside or on other religious buildings so.
