No one should 'fear or kill' rats as video of Applegreen rat goes viral

An animal rights campaigner has defended the Applegreen rat, saying that nobody should "fear or kill these creatures".

The message follows a shocking video showing a massive rat climbing out of a sliced pan which has resulted in a Dublin garage being closed. "We are conducting a full investigation into the incident, which falls well below our high operating standards. No official food closure order was served on the garage with bosses taking it upon themselves to shut.

He said: "We don't know the exact circumstances yet - it could be a case of bad luck if it just wandered in through the front door. The busy restaurant was served with the order after "a live mouse was find in the kitchen" where food that was "ready to eat" was being stored and prepared.
